Tango Total with maestros Korey & Adeline—and their Bandoneón... and the Nairobi Tango Quartet!Korey & Adeline Ireland in Nairobi... et voila the "Nairobi Tango Quartet" is born--and they play live at our Milonga Patamango - on Saturday 1 September, 2012. A Kenya first... unthinkable, incredible, unforgettable... Kaboge (percussion), Leszek (guitar), Joseph (piano), all galvanized together by Korey (arrangements, bandoneón, voice) after having met only once for practice on the Friday evening! An example of Korey's passionate activism to revitalize live music for Argentine Tango social dancing. Guys, amazing! Korey & Adeline, Thank You! This small clip captures the 2nd group piece they played on the night, El Flete (shot by Rodrique with Valentine's camera). The dance floor is very sparse during this live set... our Nairobi "tango frontier" community is very young, and having even just a few leaders drained off the floor to play live on the stage means severe adverse effects on the health of the dance floor! So, more "musiciennes" please ;-) This special Milonga was the grand finale of the 4-day Tango Total with maestros Korey & Adeline—and their Bandoneón! event. Festivalito w. Miriam y Dante, Nairobi, Kenya: demo milonga dance, Estampa de Varon, D'ArienzoFestivalito with Tango Maestros Miriam y Dante, 12-16 June 2012, Nairobi, Kenya. Opening night demos, during La Milonga Patamango at the Tree House, Museum Hill, this is their 3rd one, dancing to Estampa de Varon, by Orquesta Juan D'Arienzo with Alberto Echagüe singing, Thanks Francisco for the video. The piano dance - during the first "after" of the 2nd Anniversary Milonga Patamango - Saturday 26 May 2012At the Sala Michelangelo, Italian Institute of Culture, Nairobi, Kenya, at end of the 2nd Anniversary Milonga, in lieu of the traditional Cumparsita, Leszek Wengrzyk offers to play something on the piano... that ended up being a veritable impromptu mini-concert! And, if the pianist was tipsy from all the bubbly and wine during the dance evening, his soulful playing certainly had an intoxicating effect on some of the other dancers! Here's a tiny scene at the back of the hall, during one of the pieces Leszek played (this one was Nocturne in E minor by F. Chopin)... the joyful chuckle, the improvisation free flow, all the sentimientos... es gracias a Marion, Anika, Valentino! Then, at the closing note of this first "after", Brian (Mr. Nairobi Capoeira!) walks in... and we unanimously went on to a second "after", with quickly coming requests translating to a superbe mini playlist... "I'm so happy!", heard someone say... "Yum", said another... Gracias a vos for such a memorable night!
